Optimus Architecture was retained by Scenic Hudson Land Trust to design the pavilions for Poet’s Walk, Scenic Hudson’s first active park in the Hudson Valley.
The 121-acre riverfront Poet’s Walk Park offers a picturesque designed landscape with rustic style garden structures designed by Optimus, modeled after Newburgh’s once internationally recognized architect, Andrew Jackson Downing. The rustic wood style construction represents the pre-civil war “Romantic Period” along with Hudson which blends in with it’s surroundings.
Optimus developed construction documents for the main gate, the arbor-style Information Kiosk which greet visitors with park information, and the Overlook Pavilion which offers a focal gathering point for the visitors to enjoy the best view of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains. This park and pavilion design emulates a design character that is particularly in keeping with Red Hook’s and Rhinebeck’s built and natural landscape environment.
Optimus was recognized for this project with a design award from the New York Chapter of the Society of American Registered Architects. Years after its construction, Poet’s Walk Park remains a major attraction and landmark destination for visitors and local residents of the Mid-Hudson Valley.
