Surgery Center Design

Optimus Architecture specializes in the design of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) and Endoscopy facilities, whether a freestanding Article 28 center or within a hospital. We have designed ASCs in many different and sometimes very challenging site settings. As with the design of all healthcare facilities, having an architect with an understanding of applicable codes will expedite a project through the approval process.

Yorktown Center for Specialty Surgery

Location: Yorktown Heights, NY

Description: Merritt Healthcare retained Optimus Architecture to design this 14,300-square-foot ASC with four (4) operating rooms. Starting with a tenant space in a former IBM office building, our design transformed the interior and exterior to create the NYSDOH Article 28 ASC.

Our interior designers achieved an attractive modern and durable interior by combining natural colors, blue and metallic accents, interior storefront finishes, and natural lighting, creating a healing environment for patients and staff.

Plastic Surgery Center of Westchester

Location: Harrison, NY

Description: Optimus Architecture designed this ASC on the fourth floor of an existing office building. The CON process started with a different architect and design/build contractor. Working with the DOH and the client’s CON consultant, Optimus Architecture completed the CON by addressing unresolved issues. The facility includes two (2) operating rooms and two (2) minor procedure rooms.

Our design included the combination of prep and recovery to achieve efficiency of space and staff. The surgeons were thrilled with their new surgery center, and their CON consultant subsequently retained Optimus Architecture on similar projects in New York and Connecticut.

Rye Ambulatory Surgery Center

Location: Rye, NY

Description: Westchester Medical Group, the largest physician practice north of NYC, retained Optimus Architecture to design this ASC with four (4) operating rooms and a stereo biopsy room, with all the required prep/recovery and support areas. The design included a patient entrance into a glamorous skylighted lobby, taking advantage of natural lighting with an open and rich appearance.

Mohawk Endo

Location: Utica, NY

Description: A GI physician group retained Optimus to design an endoscopy center on the second level of an “L” shaped office building. Using the entire second floor, our design took advantage of an existing lobby, natural light and privacy of an upper level. All clinical activities occur in one wing of the center, while the other wing includes all business offices, conference rooms, waiting room, and a café.

Atlantic Ambulatory Surgery Center

Location: West Islip, NY

Description: Optimus was retained to design the interior fit up portion of an 8,400 square foot single specialty ambulatory surgery center for gastroenterology procedures. Working with the existing core and shell architect and engineer, the project was designed as a NYSDOH Article 28 ASC.

Orthopedic Associates Surgical Center

Location: Wappingers Falls, NY

Description: This client retained a design/build team for this project. Optimus Architecture designed the 12,500-square-foot ASC with four (4) operating rooms, while Kirchhoff-Consigli provided project and construction management. The client developed their medical offices, starting with a former box retail building and leaving a vacant shell area that was transformed into the NYSDOH Article 28 ASC. NYSDOH was complimentary of the design of this facility during the pre-occupancy survey.
